Behind the scenes at MMI, like the Wizard of Oz behind the curtain making magic and pulling levers, you will find little five-foot-three me at my desk plotting strategy and posting tweets. I am one of the resident Twitterers- the go-to girls for social media over in the PR house, and your most frequent correspondent for insider info @MMIHouston.
It seems only appropriate that I carry that tradition over to this blog- what is going on at MMI, what it’s like to walk
our halls and drink our coffee (although personally I prefer the Bigelow Lemon Burst tea, I’ve heard Betty makes a great cup of dark roast). There’s no lack of personality here and I’m excited to show it. These characters have character, and if they weren’t already weary of my presence and finishing our conversations with “but don’t Tweet about this, okay?” they are really going to dodge me now.
Although not everyone is ready to jump full-force and join Ashton Kutcher and Guy Kawasaki on a tweet-a-thon to the top, I recently came across this blog by Kami Watson Huyse that I think best highlights the most compelling reasons. The brilliance of social media is that it gives the ability to show yourself, your company, your brand as a living, breathing thing with personality and zest. Like any real relationship, taking the risk of putting yourself out there reaps rewards- in our case it’s the opportunity to build a better relationship with your brand advocates and create new ones.
So hello, new friends. Can’t wait to get to know you and share a little bit about what it’s like backstage at the forefront of social media.
Well done, MMI. Here’s to personality and zest! (And Betty’s coffee.)
