Join MMIers and Support Blue Cure Foundation

June is Men’s Health Month, so there is no better time to help raise awareness for prostate cancer, which is the second leading cause of cancer death in American men.  Finding a cure for prostate cancer is the living passion of Gabe Canales, founder of the Blue Cure Foundation. The foundation’s mission is to save lives by promoting an integrative approach to prostate cancer treatment, by advocating increased funding for research and by encouraging preventative “anticancer” dietary and lifestyle habits before cancer can strike.

This coming Friday, June 15th from 7-9 p.m., the Blue Cure Foundation is teaming up with KHOU 11 News and CultureMap to host an event to raise money for prostate cancer research at Hotel ZaZa (5701 Main Street, Houston 77005). They are calling all Houstonians to come meet each other at the organization’s first ever “Tweetup”.  Don’t worry if you aren’t active on Twitter, you can still join in for the fun!

This event is complete with food, drinks, live entertainment and the opportunity to mingle with KHOU 11 News personalities. But beyond mingling, the night’s guests will include MD Anderson physicians who will be available to answer any questions you may have about prostate cancer treatment and prevention. Shalin Shah, M.D., is a radiation oncologist at the MD Anderson Regional Care Center in Sugar Land and John Papadopoulos, M.D., is a prostate cancer specialist at the MD Anderson Regional Care Centers in Sugar Land and Katy.

You can purchase a ticket online at http://khou11-estw.eventbrite.com/. One hundred percent of the proceeds will benefit the Blue Cure Foundation and will go toward prostate cancer research.  We hope to see you there!
